MAY E-MINUTES


  1. VIDEOS: Other than Gail, there has been no feedback regarding the videos sent out, so I am not sure if they are a benefit to anyone or not. However, Rose recently sent out a great one with Mash and Coronavirus the other day. Thank you Rose-it was very enjoyable.

  2. JUNE MEETING: Our June 17th meeting will take place via Skype or Zoom. This will be a good Segway back into meeting in person and also to see how everyone is doing. I will send out an announcement in a week or so, so that we can get everyone on board for the meeting. AJ, I will connect with you soon-hopefully you can help me get everyone set up for that meeting.

  3. FRACTURED FAIRY TALES: The publication schedule for Kissing Frogs, and Other Quirky Fairy Tales remains on track for June 1, 2020 see blog for guidelines http://hawaiifictionwriters.blogspot.com/.

  4. MYSTERY IN THE MIDLANDS is going VIRTUAL! They have a mid-summer conference sponsored by SEMWA and the Palmetto Chapter of Sisters in Crime, which is normally held in Columbia, South Carolina. It will be held through Crowdcast on Saturday, July 25. The virtual conference, which is FREE, will feature Charlaine Harris as guest of honor and be moderated by Dana Kaye. Other panelists include John Floyd, Tara Laskowski, and Art Taylor (short stories), Alexia Gordon, Toni L.P. Kelner, and Gigi Pandian (paranormals), and Charlaine Harris, Dana Cameron, and Jeffrey Deaver (novels to screenplays). Remember, you won't need to come to Columbia to join in the fun! Those attending may pose questions for the panelists through “chat,” but not interact directly. The moderator will relay questions when there is time.

  1. JULY WRITE-IN MEETING: For our meeting in July we will have a write-in. Everyone should bring a short story of 1500 words or less. We will read them at the meeting and vote on the funniest, most educational and most gripping stories. Will have three surprise fun gifts for each winner. Just in case, we will also be prepared to have a Skype/Zoom meeting for this as well – for those who still cannot get out.

  2. SINC NATIONAL: Our own annual writing workshop, SinC Into Great Writing, has been moved online. Save the date for the morning of Oct. 3, 2020. Speakers will be announced to members by email as soon as they are finalized. This will be free to all Sisters in Crime members.

  3. SINC NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL GRANT EXTENSIONS: We are extending the deadline for use of 2020 Education Grants. Recipients may now use their grants in the calendar year 2021. If you are a recipient eligible to extend your grant timeline, you will receive further details by email.

  5. LAURIES NEW BOOK: Many of you had trouble accessing my Wordpress blog, which requires followers to have a Wordpress acct. I am now posting chapters on Blogspot, Seems to be less problematic.   6. GUMSHOE ALOHA STYLE: Who would be interested to make some speaking engagement videos and begin a library. We could let SINC NATIONAL let other chapters to view. We may be able to charge a fee.
